June may not have been flaming hot

June may not have been flaming hot, but the rains during the month have brought welcome relief to farmers, Growers, Turf professionals and Amenity managers. An unseasonably dry winter and spring turf management has proved to be a challenge to both professionals and the most enthusiastic of amateurs. With many surfaces showing signs of disease and stress, reports abound of unseasonal infestations of Fusarium (Microdochium patch) appearing alongside unprecedented levels of Red-Thread.

With welcome rains will help to encourage a fresh flush (re-growth) of grass, especially on sites which do not have access to adequate irrigation supplies. It is worth considering an application of a quality balanced spring & summer fertiliser to supply the necessary nutrients needed by the plant for growth and help fight off disease attacks.

Vitax Amenities Enhance range of fertilisers are ideal products to assist the groundsman in a well-managed nutrient programme. Providing the benefits of balanced, phased (slow) release of nutrients, Trace Elements and Bio-Active components combine to provide the ideal nutrient delivery medium. Encouraging deep, strong, stress and disease-resistant rooting, controlled even growth, resulting in firm wear resistant leaf blades, compact overall growth with good plant colour.

For the grower who have soils with high Phosphate levels or are faced with high Annual Meadow Grass (Poa Annua) levels, the Enhance range offers a zero P option.
